The town of Guadalen follows the typical traces of small Andalucian villages of the beginning of the XX century: narrow and straight streets that create regular blocks surrounding a square and a wider main street. Their constructions correspond to the vernacular of the towns’ architectural period, with detached and semi-detached houses with one or two floors, predominantly white. Our intention is to make an incision in the town, increasing residential use and introducing the necessary facilities.
SUPERPOSITION OF USES
The main purpose of this project is to transform the monotonous image of this place by a radical change in its section, proposing a construction for this intervention. To achieve that, while using the places that are currently in disuse or in poor condition, we can superimpose more homes in different directions, mixing a detached house of two floors with a housing block in this way. At the same time, leaving the core characteristics intact, causing a contrast of colors and materials. Terraces will also be created for common use. Eventually, it is created an intervention in the existing main square of the village and it is suggested the construction of a sports field in the outskirts of the village.
